Taking a world cruise is something that most people only dream about doing one day.
Three to four months aboard a luxury ship that sails to exotic locations all over the planet is a vacation straight out of “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous”.  With several cruising companies now offering the world cruise as part of their popular itineraries, it is now more of a reality than a dream for lots of people to be able to set sail. Plus, the choices of itineraries allow people to see the ports of call that they would most enjoy.

Most cruising companies now offer several different itineraries to choose from when selecting a world cruise. The majority of the options offered are at least one hundred days long to allow for a leisurely pace to be set in between selected ports of call. Some itineraries will actually make a complete loop around the entire planet, while others will start out in North America and end somewhere in Europe or vise versa. Depending upon the season that people want to travel in, there are always several different options in itinerary, price, and cruise lines to choose from. The most popular time that a world cruise is offered is in January, however, there are also summer and fall departure dates to be found as well.

For those who do not have three to four months of free time to commit to an entire world cruise, there are also a few alternate options to consider. As one could imagine given the cost and length of these global voyages, the ship’s rooms don’t completely sell out very often. To fill their ships and make fuel more economical, most companies will also offer several one month segments of the complete itinerary. This allows globe trotters to pick and choose what ports of call and portion of the world cruise itinerary that they would most like to take.

A world cruise gives travelers the opportunity to see several of the planets most exotic cities. With most ships visiting North America, South America, Africa, South Pacific, Asia, and Europe all in the same trip, voyagers are able to get a good glimpse of most of the Earth. They also get to most likely sail through not only the Panama Canal, but also the Suez Canal as well. Best of all, by remaining in the same cabin and ship, travelers find that they have a place to retreat to as a temporary home while they are away from their own. The world cruise is definitely a once in a lifetime experience that should be taken, at least in a segment or two, by all those who love to travel.
