Food On The Royal Caribbean
Adding & Burning a Few Calories On The Royal Caribbean

Cherries Jubilee On Royal Caribbean
The Royal Caribbean Cruise oversees a wide range of ships from mid size to state of the art mega ships. While not exactly what you might call elite gourmet royalty, Royal Caribbean Cruise Line’s fare can still tickle each passenger’s palate.
Most of the royal Caribbean ships…
…have a traditional two seating dining schedule for dinner, with an open seating within the dining room for breakfast and lunch. The Cruise line is presently testing a flexible dining choice on the Freedom of the Seas, Serenaded of the Seas and Brilliance of the Seas. It is called the “My Time Dining” plan where passengers can decide from assigned and flexible dining in the main dining room. This has been implemented throughout all the ships since 2008.
The Windjammer Café aboard all the Royal Caribbean ships provides well-known breakfast and buffets for lunch. It also offers a casual substitute for dinner. On the other ships, Jade, a special division of the Windjammer presents Asian dishes within the day and fresh sushi at night.
The majority of the Royal Caribbean Cruise ships excluding the Vision class ones with the exception of the Enchantment of the Seas have one alternative Italian-themed restaurant called Portfino.
Most have the Chops Grille steakhouse…
…on board too. The cover charge for all is $20, and the food along with the services is above the regular standard cuisine of the cruise line company. As such, reservation is necessary. The Freedom class ships and the Voyager including the Majesty and the Sovereign of the Seas have a branch of Johnny Rockets fast-food contract that has a cover charge of $4.95. Some of the menus are priced based on ala carte. The Café Promenade on the Freedom and Voyager ships recommend continental breakfast with round the clock sandwiches and other snacks.
The Seaview Café on board the Radiance has fast food items consisting of chips and fish at lunchtime and during the late night hours. Compass Deli and Sorrento Pizza have sandwiches/wraps and pizza respectively. These are served fairly good and fast. With all that food, you’d wonder if you could ever get rid of all the excess fat when every part of your body is on vacation. Fear not, for there are activities that will take care of all that.
Daytime activities on the Royal Caribbean fleet includes rock wall climbing and playing the mini-golf course. There are also pools, spa, fitness amenities and ice skating.
Evening activity comes in a splashy Vegas-style production shows and playing “Newlywed and Not-So-Newlywed Game”, where passengers could participate. There are numerous musical entertainments, ice shows and other unique features as well.
As promised, there were only a few calorie-burning activities mentioned. Relax. You’re here to be treated like a king. You can worry about burning calories when you disembark. In the meantime, let the crew flex their muscles for you.
