Discover the “Perfect” Cruise

Cruise deals are easy to find if you are willing to wait until the last minute to book your trip. If your job is flexible with the week that you take your vacation or you are retired, then it is fairly easy to find some amazing travel bargains by waiting until a month or less before your trip to book it. Cruise deals are most often not advertised the way lesser discounted fares are and require the bargain hunter to either know where to look or how to find them.

However, don’t expect to see them anywhere, as they are hardly ever advertised. Sure, most people can get a free room class upgrade or a few hundred dollars in onboard credit by booking their vacation early, but by waiting until closer to the departure date, you can save hundreds, if not thousands of dollars off the list price of your ticket. Ship companies are very eager to have each and every room filled with guests. To be able to effectively run a ship, cruise lines need all of their cabins booked and filled with paying passengers. Even if they are only paying a portion of the full price ticket, passengers enjoying cruise deals will still be paying the full amount of the fuel surcharge, which is all the company is really concerned about.

Also, they can rarely be found on the cruise line’s own website, but are most likely to only be found through bargain travel companies. Travel brokers and web sites that specialize in reduced fares, as well as vacation auction sites are a great place to begin your search for cheap tickets. They usually offer deals to many different ports of call and aboard several different ships. Most of the sites however, will only be selling the cruise deals themselves and you will still have to find additional airfare if you don’t live within driving distance of the departure port.

By waiting until a month or even a few weeks before your vacation to book your trip, you can find several amazing cruise deals, especially during the off season. During late summer and fall months, cruises to the Caribbean and other hurricane prone areas are less likely to be fully booked. These are the best times and places to travel to by ship, as well as to find great discounts.

Plus, the chances of actually running into a hurricane during your specific dates are slim and if there should be one in the area, ships will have alternate routes to take. Repositioning routes are also great routes to find cruise deals for. They do involve more days at sea but are a great bargain for those who simply enjoy the cruising experience. Knowing when to book your trip is the best way to find these great discounts.
